Skin Cancer

We recommend regular skin cancer checks, particularly if you spend a lot of time in the sun for work or recreation.

Skin cancer kills thousands of Australians annually. However, melanomas, basal cell carcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas can be cured if they are discovered and treated early.

A skin check takes around 15-20 minutes to complete and involves the doctor looking at all areas of your body, often using a Dermatoscope. This instrument allows high magnification of any suspect skin lesions. The earlier a skin cancer is detected the easier it is to cure and there are now many treatment options available including cream applications which are suitable for some cancers and pre cancers.
